Introductory Paragraph (FATE) - Night by Elie Wiesel

Isabel Allende once said, "Heart is what drives us and determines our fate."  This means that what happens to a person isn't chance but instead is directed by one's strength and ability to persevere.  The quote by Allende is true, because the choices a person makes or his or her determination to overcome obstacles can change the outcome of a situation.  This can be clearly seen in Night by Elie Wiesel.  In this memoir, Wiesel creates his own fate by remaining with his father at all costs, listening to his elders when given choices, and showing extraordinary emotional and physical strength when put to tests by the Nazi soldiers.
